Calling all bubbly lovers, brunch lovers and drinkers curious about English wines — Singapore Wine Club is proud to present, in collaboration with Juliet Victor Asia, a vertical tasting of the signature “The Trouble with Dreams” (TTWD) cuvee from Dermot Sugrue, the cult winemaker and critics’ darling of English sparkling wine (including several in magnum format). We’re also offering a rare taste of the highly-allocated Brendan O Regan tête de cuvée (retailing at well over $200, if you can even find it 🤫).
While we are generally skeptical of claims that English sparkling competes in the same category as Champagne, Sugrue’s wines defy comparison. The acidic spine and tension of the wines and their mineral intensity have a Champenois slant, but boast a distinctly English X Factor.
But don’t take our word for it. Join us on 29 September for a multi-vintage TTWD vertical going back to 2014, providing a valuable opportunity to assess ageability in a field with very few aged references. English wines deserve an English meal and we’ve curated a special 3-course brunch menu with Angie’s Oyster Bar & Grill featuring the UK’s most famous export after imperialism—fish and chips!
Drop us an email at hello@singaporewineclub.com if you’d be interested to join!
